On April 12, Montgomery County Executive, Ike Leggett, lead the unveiling of eight Capital Bikeshare stations placed in White Flint, Twin Brook and the Pike District. The community now has access to Capital Bikeshare at nine of the 12 metro stations for the first mile/last mile connections to transit and other activities. Capital Bikeshare now has over 500 stations across the metro DC region.
The new stations were acquired through grants from the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) along with added contributions from the private sector to help meet grant matching and limit the impact of public funding. The City of Rockville also received a grant from MDOT to add to the fleet of red bikes, as well.
The County continues its commitment to the Bikeshare network with coordination and planning of future station locations already in place.
