Capital Bikeshare for All

Capital Bikeshare’s equity program is getting a major update, with more ways to qualify, expanded access, online registration, and access to ebikes!

For the last few years, residents of Washington, DC, and Arlington, VA have been able to apply for discounted membership through our Community Partners Program. These organizations have been instrumental in reaching low-income riders through outreach and education.

This year, we’re excited to expand our equity program by allowing individuals who qualify to sign up online and introducing the program to three additional cities! Capital Bikeshare for All will allow those who qualify for certain state or federal assistance programs to enjoy all the benefits of bikeshare for just $5 a year. Residents of Washington, DC; Arlington, VA; Alexandria, VA; Prince George's County, MD; Fairfax County, VA; and Montgomery County, MD are eligible to apply.

Program features:

  • Online registration -- Users can now sign up anytime, anywhere at capitalbikeshare.com

  • More ways to qualify -- Former members had to be affiliated with a Community Partner organization to access the discounted membership. Now, anyone who qualifies for certain state and federal assistance programs can also sign up.

  • More ways to pay - Riders can pay the one-time low annual fee with a credit, debit, or prepaid card. Cash is accepted at designated locations listed on capitalbikeshare.com.

  • Unlock and ride with the app - Riders can now use the new Capital Bikeshare app in addition to keys to unlock bikes 24/7.

  • Account management - Now, members can see their ride history, resolve issues directly with customer service, and manage their account.

  • Access to ebikes - unlock fees will be waived for Capital Bikeshare for All members, allowing riders to go farther, faster.
