Happy 1st Anniversary Capital Bikeshare Fairfax County!
Its hard to believe it was just one year ago that Capital Bikeshare took root with its first stations placed in Reston. With a Spring campaign expanding the station placement in Reston and further in Tysons Corner, the love of the big red bikes has started to take hold!
Some statistics to show just how far we've come include:
The current fan favorite station is the Reston Station with Reston Town Center Transit Station coming in not too far behind. Tysons Corner Station proving its place coming in 3rd.
Now, as we head into year two, the next set of stations to has just been announced. The Phase II expansion will bring nine new Capital Bikeshare locations to the area south of the Dulles Toll Road for the first time. Two additional stations will be added to the existing 15 stations north of the Dulles Toll Road. How will this help you? The new stations will increase residents and commuters options to connect to the Wiehle-Reston East Metro Station and the Reston Town Center Transit Center. It will also provide new options to get to two of the Village Centers, pool and tennis clubs and the Walker Nature Center.
