National Mall and Memorial Parks

Located in the heart of our nation's capital and nicknamed "America's Front Yard," the National Mall is home to many must-see landmarks.

The National Mall is often seen as a symbol of democracy and is the site of many important events – including presidential inaugurations, historical commemorations and social demonstrations.

25 million people visit the National Mall every year – more than the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone and Yosemite combined – to take a stroll through history and explore the most recognizable monuments and memorials, including:

  • Washington Monument
  • Lincoln Memorial
  • Jefferson Memorial
  • Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial
  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial
  • Vietnam Veterans Memorial
  • World War II Memorial
  • Korean War Veterans Memorial

The National Mall contains 26 miles of pedestrian walkways and eight miles of bike trails, so you can choose to explore by foot or on two wheels. Check out the nearby Capital Bikeshare stations for a fun and efficient way to see it all in one day!
