One of the world's preeminent museums, the National Gallery of Art preserves, collects and exhibits famous works, both classical and modern.
Spanning six city blocks along the National Mall, the National Gallery of Art’s collection traces the history of western art from the renaissance to the modern day. The Gallery was founded in 1937 and is home to the classic West Building and modern East Building. Its contained works include pieces by De Vinci, Rembrandt, Monet, Van Gogh, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Pablo Picasso and many more. The Sculpture Garden is the outdoor home for monumental modern sculpture, and features a reflecting pool and skating rink in the center.
