National Museum of Health and Medicine

The National Museum of Health and Medicine chronicles the history of military medicine dating back to the Civil War.

Founded by the U.S. Army during the Civil War, the National Museum of Health and Medicine is the U.S. Army’s museum of medical techniques and technologies past, present and future. It is home to more than 25 million artifacts, and offers unique insights into the history of medicine in the United States, from the battlefield to the research laboratory. The museum is located on US Army’s Forest Glen Annex in Silver Spring and is free to the public.
