Capital Bikeshare for All

Capital Bikeshare offers affordable, accessible, and fun transportation options for everyone, regardless of income. Our equity program allows those who qualify for certain state or federal assistance programs to sign up individually, in addition to being able to join through a Community Partner.

Benefits

  • $5 Annual Membership

  • $0 fee for qualified individuals in Montgomery County

  • Bikes are available 24/7/365 throughout the service area

  • Unlimited rides, with the first 60 minutes of each classic or ebike trip included

  • Waived fees for parking ebikes at a public bike rack within the service area

Eligibility

Capital Bikeshare for All is available to residents of Washington, DC; Arlington, VA; Alexandria, VA; Prince George's County, MD; Fairfax County, VA; City of Falls Church, VA; and Montgomery County, MD ages 18 and older who qualify for a state or federal assistance program including, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Women Infants, and Children (WIC), Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), SSI/SSDI Supplemental Security Income, Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), Veterans rated with 60% disability or more, and Medicaid.

We accept the following forms for program qualification:

  • EBT Card

  • Discounted utility bill dated in last 30 days

  • SSI/SSDI Statement of benefits

  • Medicaid Card

  • VA Letter

The Community Partners Program enables local nonprofits, government agencies and social services organizations to offer their clients membership in the Capital Bikeshare for All program.

Sign up

  1. How do I sign up for Capital Bikeshare for All? You can sign up on https://www.capitalbikeshare.com/for-all-signup. You will need to submit proof of eligibility in a state or federal assistance program.
  2. Can I sign up in-person? Yes, our partner locations listed above are available for in-person sign up support.

Membership

  1. How can I ride? You can link a bike key to your account or ride using the Capital Bikeshare app.
  2. I was in the Community Partners Program, how can I update my account? You will receive an email with instructions on how to update your account. You’ll also be able to update your account in the Capital Bikeshare app or on the website at account.capitalbikeshare.com/profile.
  3. I was in the Community Partners Program and did not receive an email. Please reach out to your organization for assistance.

Payment

  1. How can I pay? Credit, debit, or prepaid card. We accept cash at certain partner locations listed above.
  2. How do I get a prepaid card? Prepaid cards are available at hundreds of retailers in the DC metropolitan area where members can purchase and load cash value to the card. No SSN, bank account, credit card, or identification required.
  3. We accept all open loop cards so you can select the card that works best for you.
  4. Are you a resident of Montgomery Country? There is no sign-up fee ($0) for qualified individuals, the credit/debit card will be kept on file for membership processing only.
